FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is counselling?
Counselling is a process where you can speak about any problems or uncomfortable experiences you have with a fully qualified, professional counsellor. This can allow you to understand the difficulties and feelings that may be created within you. It is a safe and confidential environment to explore our experiences, manage our relationships better and move forward in our lives.
Will what I share with you be kept confidential?
All sessions are kept strictly confidential. I work within the BACP ethical framework and it is explained in this framework how confidentiality is practised. All enquiries sent to me will also be kept confidential in this same way.
What are the typical emotional problems or issues?
Sadness, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, life crisis, relationship problems, bereavement and loss, low self-esteem, emotional and physical abuse, addiction, phobias, domestic violence, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. This is just a brief list and this may not include your experience(s).
How many sessions will I need?
I offer an open ended number of sessions and you can decide when you are ready to end. Each of us is an individual and the number of sessions depends on your personal needs and circumstances. This can be discussed in the first session. Sessions are offered on a weekly basis.
What happens in a counselling session?
The session is all about you and what you would like to talk about. My approach will work in a way that is tailored to your needs and concerns.
Will you give me advice?
I will not give advice, tell you what to do or judge you in any way. The aim of counselling is to support you to come to your own decision(s). I might sum up what I understand you have been saying, so that I can support you to form a plan of action, if this is required.
What happens if I cannot attend a session?
If you are unable to make a session, you can give 48 hours notice by email, and you will not be charged. If you are unable to provide 48 hours notice to cancel you will still be charged for the session.
How much does a session cost?
My fee is £45 for a 50 minute session and concessions can be available. A free 15 minute telephone conversation can be offered, after registration, to see if what I offer is suitable for you.
What methods of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, cheque or bank transfer.

You can arrange a session by filling out the form on my webpage or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact me on my mobile: 07895422065.
